Government sources said President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will issue a decree to amend tariffs of certain goods, including custom exemptions for medicines of incurable and chronic diseases.
Duties on medicines for diabetes, blood pressure, cancer tumors, liver and kidney diseases and Hepatitis C are expected to be reduced to zero percent instead of 5 percent in order to eliminate monopolies of the drugs trade.
The sources pointed out that the reductions would be for produced medicines and not raw materials.
