The Cairo Criminal Court sentenced on Saturday a defendant accused of the 2015 assassination of top prosecutor Hesham Barakat to 10 years in prison.
The court previously sentenced the same defendant in absentia to 15 years imprisonment before arresting him and putting him on a retrial.
The defendants are accused of joining an illegal organization that aims to suspend the constitution, premeditated murder, attempted murder, possessing arms and explosives, and financially supporting an illegal organization to achieve its objectives.
