Democratic Alliance and Brotherhood’s party sued in court

Sami Hegazy, president of the Omma al-Gadid Party, filed two lawsuits against the Democratic Alliance and the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party. He is requesting the High Elections Committee to reject their candidacy lists in upcoming parliamentary elections.

Hegazy accused the Brotherhood of deceiving the alliance by nominating the majority of candidates from its party, instead of equally dividing the candidacies among the 18 alliance member parties.

He considered the maneuver an act of political treachery that is reminiscent of the Mubarak regime.

The court will hear the case on 25 October.
