Detention of policemen accused of killing lawyer extended

The North Cairo Court renewed the detention of two policemen for another 15 days pending investigations over the killing of lawyer Karim Hamdy.

Prosecution had earlier decided to remand the suspects into custody after charging them with torturing the lawyer to death. Hamdy was being detained at the Matareya Police Station where he was questioned over possessing fire arms and having ties to terrorist cells.

Investigations have revealed that Hamdy and others were going to use the weapons in attacks against police and citizens and that they fired shots against police which caused some damage to an armored vehicle.
