Doomsday is a sub-variant of the Omicron and its mortality rate is insignificant.
These words were uttered by Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population.
Infections with syncytial and respiratory viruses in Egypt are stable, Abdel Ghaffar, said, adding that China’s new coronavirus Doomsday variant is characterized by a rapid spread, and has no disturbing effects like other variants.
Abdel Ghaffar said that the symptoms of the new variant may extend between five and seven days after catching the infection.
He therefore calls on all citizens to exercise caution and take precautionary measures to avoid infection with the virus.
The “Doomsday” coronavirus variant has sparked panic after it infected about 250 million people during the month of December in China.
37 million people in one day, according to the British Daily Mail.

Symptoms of Doomsday Variant
The Doomsday variant is one of the current coronavirus mutants in China, but its symptoms are less severe and it has a lesser impact on the respiratory system but its danger lies in the speed of its spread amongst people.
The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention believes that 18 percent of the population has been infected with the Doomsday variant.
The Daily Mail stated that the hospitals were overcrowded and the morgue was filled, prompting hospitals in China to provide care for the infected on the streets and in front of hospitals.
The reason for this is that they were unable to accommodate to the large number of patients.
The newspaper added that nearly a million people are expected to die in China due to the Doomsday variant in the coming months.
There are a few reasons behind the spread of the new variant in China.
Most importantly abd notably is the low immunity, reduced precautionary measures for coronavirus, and reduced vaccination rates.
Doomsday is a new variant of the coronavirus which broke out in Wuhan, China, in late 2019, and led to worldwide closures later to curb its spread.
Director General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed his deep concern about the unprecedented wave of coronavirus infections in China.
He is asking for detailed information on the seriousness of the situation.
“In order to make a comprehensive risk assessment of the situation on the ground.
WHO needs more detailed information on disease severity, hospital admissions and requirements for ICU support,” Ghebreyesus stressed, in his weekly press conference.
