The head of The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics in Egypt, Taha Rabeh, announced that the stations of the National Seismic Network detected an earthquake measuring two degrees on the Richter scale on Tuesday.
The institute explained that the earthquake was caused by construction work six kilometers southeast of Cairo.
According to the data, the earthquake occurred at 3:57:50 pm, at latitude 30.1 north and longitude 31.28 east.
The institute confirmed that it received reports from citizens stating that they felt the earthquake, without recording any injuries or loss of life or property.
Residents of Maadi reported on Facebook that the area was exposed to an earthquake, as one of them wrote: “There was an earthquake a while ago, guys, in Maadi.”
