Egypt accuses Israel of deliberate escalation following strikes in Syria

Egypt harshly condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Syrian territory, which it accused of being systematic escalation and a flagrant violation of international law that disregards the United Nations Charter.

Egypt stressed in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that this Israel’s strikes are also a blatant violation of Syrian sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.

Egypt called on the active international parties and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities in obligating Israel to stop these blatant violations.

It also stresses the importance of Israel’s withdrawal from the Syrian territories it recently occupied in flagrant violation of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement, as a prelude to achieving a full withdrawal from the occupied Syrian territories of 1967, considering the Golan Heights as occupied Syrian land.

Israeli warplanes launched four raids on military sites on the southern outskirts of the Syrian capital, Damascus, early Wednesday morning, while Israel’s penetrated the administrative borders between the Daraa and Quneitra governorates.

A Syrian security source confirmed that Israeli fighter jets targeted southern Damascus, without providing further details, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that at least two raids targeted military sites in southern Damascus.

Israeli media confirmed that the air force targeted “areas in Syria.”

Israel’s Channel 14 reported that the Israeli army carried out raids on military bases belonging to the former Syrian army and destroyed combat equipment in Damascus.
