Egypt has implemented a national strategy for tourism development in order to maximize the sector’s enormous potential.
The state has been eager to enhance its international competitiveness by highlighting its unique tourist destinations and archaeological assets, putting it as one of the most diverse tourist destinations in the world.
It also seeks to expand the scope of its promotional campaigns and global events to target new tourism markets.
The state has paid special attention to improving the tourism investment climate, by supporting partnerships with the private sector, international partnerships and providing investment incentives to bolster investments.
Egypt’s efforts have received wide acclaim from international institutions, as shown by the improvement of Egypt’s ranking in global tourism indicators – solidifying its position as a leading tourist destination worldwide.
The Cabinet’s Media Center on Monday published a report that included an info-graph highlighting Egypt’s goals to become the most diverse tourist destination in the world.
The report highlighted the performance indicators of the tourism sector locally and internationally.
In terms of local performance indicators, tourism revenues increased by over two-fold reaching US$15.3 billion in 2024, compared to $7.2 billion in 2014.
The number of incoming tourists increased by 59.6 percent with 15.7 million tourists in 2024, compared to 9.9 million tourists in 2014, and it is targeted to reach 30 million tourists by 2032 at most.
The Forbes magazine indicated that Egypt’s national tourism strategy has proven successful, alongside its implemented policies, noting that incoming tourism to Egypt has made record numbers.
The Travel Leisure meanwhile magazine chose Luxor among the top 50 tourist destinations in the world to travel to in 2025.
The report reviewed the incentives provided to encourage tourism investment.
A plan is being prepared to develop the area extending from Sphinx Airport to Saqqara, which includes the Giza Pyramids area and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
