Egypt, Bahrain’s maritime cooperation agreement released

Egypt’s Official Gazette has released President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s decree No.384 of 2016, on the commercial maritime agreement signed with the Kingdom of Bahrain that year.

The agreement aims to develop maritime navigation between the two countries’ ports, and exchange expertise in the fields of maritime transportation and ports.

The two countries will work together to manufacture and maintain the ships.

The agreement also stipulated that the countries would cooperate in the monitoring systems of their ports, and in maintaining the protection of maritime navigation.

In 2016, Sisi also issued a presidential decree approving Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa as an Egyptian citizen, in accordance with the law on Sinai development.

The decree applied to the possession of lands and villas in Naama Bay of Sharm el Shiekh city, for the purpose of residence.
