Egypt condemns “Greater Israel” plans, demands clarification

Egypt has affirmed its commitment to establishing peace in the Middle East and condemned recent announcements in Israeli media regarding talks of a so-called “Greater Israel” plan.

In a statement on Wednesday evening, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for clarifications, noting that such statements provoke instability and reflect Israel’s mindset of rejecting peace in the region.

The ministry added that this approach is in direct opposition to the aspirations of all peace-loving regional and international parties who wish to achieve security and stability for all people in the area.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s statement stressed that there is no path to peace other than a return to negotiations and an end to the war on Gaza.

This must lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions.
