
The Egyptian national football team defeated Guinea-Bissau in the tenth round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The match, played at Cairo International Stadium in Group A, concluded the qualifying stage and ended with Egypt winning 1-0, with a goal scored by Mohamed Hamdy.
This victory raised Egypt’s tally to 26 points, maintaining its unbeaten record and leading the standings, having secured its qualification for the World Cup following a victory over Djibouti in the previous match.
The African qualifiers is held in two stages. The first is a group stage, with nine groups of six teams each. Each team plays two home and away matches against each opponent. The group winner advances to the World Cup finals.
The second round will see the four best runners-up compete in the semi-finals, followed by the finals from which they will advance to the global play-offs.
