Egypt and Japan enjoy longstanding ties in the water resources sphere, affirmed Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hani Sewilam on Sunday.
Over the course of several years, many projects, capacity-building activities and feasibility studies have been implemented between Egypt and Japan, he added during a meeting held with representatives of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The meeting was held to discuss ways of boosting ties between Egypt and Japan in the water resources sphere.
The minister, meanwhile, drew attention to Egypt’s relentless efforts over the past period to put water at the center of climate action through the proceedings of fifth edition of Cairo Water Week and the UN Conference on Climate Change (COP27).
Egypt, in cooperation with Japan, chaired the third interactive dialogue of the 2023 Water Conference, which was held as part of the proceedings of UN Water Conference last March, added the minister during the meeting.
