Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, concluded his participation in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington.
He expressed Egypt’s aspiration for positive and constructive consultations during the visit of the IMF mission targeted under the “fourth review” of the economic reform program scheduled for the coming period.
The “Washington Meetings” saw extensive activity by the minister, as he participated in the official meetings of the G20, and held a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other countries to discuss strengthening economic and financial relations.
He also attended the ministerial meetings of the countries of the Middle East and Africa region with the Managing Director of the IMF.
Kouchouk further attended and spoke at a large number of meetings organized by major international investment banks, with the participation of hundreds of investors and representatives of all classification institutions and those interested in investment affairs.
He held a number of meetings with think tanks and influence centers and business community organizations from the US, as well as speaking at numerous sessions and meetings.
The visit also included holding interviews with representatives from several of the biggest international institutions such as the IMF, the World Bank and African institutions, which provided an opportunity to explain the latest economic developments in Egypt and efforts to continue improving the economic and financial situation.
Egypt’s financial vision
Kouchouk presented Egypt’s vision on various financial and economic issues, explained the most important regional and global challenges and the most important reforms and measures taken, amid expectations of improving economic growth rates, targeting financial stability in the medium term with attention to the social dimension.
He also touched on the positive and encouraging financial results achieved during the past period, efforts to raise the efficiency of public debt management, and targeting government debt on a downward path with an integrated strategy.
He stressed his aspiration to continue coordination efforts with all international institutions during the coming period, in order to ensure the continuation of efforts to facilitate and improve the investment climate, the full implementation of the targeted tax facilitation package during the current fiscal year, the completion of efforts to improve the business environment.
The minister also pledged to push and enhance efforts towards social protection and human development.
