Egypt makes more charter flights to UAE to return stranded citizens

Egypt’s Civil Aviation Ministry continued to operate charter flights to return Egyptians left stranded around the world due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Two EgyptAir charter flights took off on Wednesday morning for Abu Dhabi, UAE to return citizens there, while one Air Cairo flight took off for Dubai.

Sources within the ministry said that Abu Dhabi’s two flights are scheduled to return to Cairo International Airport and the Dubai flight to Assiut International Airport.

The three flights departed from Cairo International Airport.

Sources at Cairo International Airport said that the Abu Dhabi flights are scheduled to return 505 Egyptians: with 255 passengers on board the first flight, and 250 Egyptians on board the second flight.

Returnees will undergo medical medical examinations conducted by airport authorities, before being transported to designated isolation areas as part of the Ministry of Health’s protocols.

All citizens returning to the country must spent seven days in these isolation areas.

The Civil Aviation Authority announced the suspension of air traffic, whether incoming or out of airports, since March 19.

Air cargo and charter flights, alongside international ambulance flights or domestic flights, were excluded from the decision to allow the return of tourist groups after the end of their programs.
