Egypt now vaccinates travelers abroad 72 hours after registration

The Director of the Vaccination Center at the Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA) Mostafa Mohamady announced that those wishing to travel outside Egypt can now obtain the coronavirus vaccine within 72 hours of registering on the Health and Population Ministry’s vaccination website.

A traveler that has not yet received the vaccine can register online through the traveler’s section on the website, where they will they be summoned within 72 hours to get vaccinated at a center and receive an approval certificate with the QR Code.

He added that if the traveler is already vaccinated they must go to one of the vaccination centers, and a certificate will be issued in exchange for an LE100 fee.

Speaking to Al-Masry Al-Youm, Mohamady said that so far there is no mechanism for vaccinations outside of registering on the vaccination website.

Egypt’s Health and Population Ministry said last month that it has opened 125 vaccination centers in the country dedicated for those who wish to travel abroad.

Ministry spokesperson Khaled Megahed said that the citizens wishing to be vaccinated before traveling should choose the governorate in which they wish to be vaccinated, then see the available centers in the governorate and choose one where they can receive the vaccination.

The next step after registration is to visit the vaccination center to obtain the required vaccinations for travel to the EU, the US or the Gulf countries.

The traveler will then obtain a stamped certificate for their vaccinations.

Health Ministry says the number of citizens who received the vaccine has now approached six million, and with the coming of local vaccine production the number is to rise even further.
