The Ministry of Immigration is preparing to launch the fourth edition of the Egyptian Expatriates conference, scheduled to be held on July 31.
It is set to feature the participation of a large number of representatives of Egyptian communities in various countries, as well as the participation of representatives of the relevant ministries and state institutions, to answer inquiries and respond to the suggestions of Egyptian expatriates.
Minister of Immigration, Suha Gendy, announced that the conference will discuss the economy, the political and educational axis, and the social and service axis.
These sessions were decided through the communicating with Egyptian expatriates through weekly virtual meetings as part of the “An Hour with the Minister” initiative and through direct communication via social media and WhatsApp, she added.
Gendy also unveiled the sessions of the conference, which include the opening session under the title “Statement of Account”.
During this sessions, the Minister of Immigration will review the efforts made by the ministry throughout the year to meet the demands of Egyptian expatriates, and the recommendations of the previous conference and its resulting achievements.
Accommodating Egypt’s ‘ambassadors abroad’
The Ministry of Immigration’s strategy is based on finding mechanisms for effective communication with all Egyptian expatriates around the world, which represents a top priority in the ministry’s policies due to their effective role as Egypt’s permanent ambassadors abroad, she said.
Gendy stressed the importance of linking immigration policies with the development process, by creating an attractive investment climate to encourage Egyptian expatriates to invest in Egypt.
The first session of the conference, which is concerned with the economy, will review the performance of the Egyptian economy in recent years amid global economic crises, she explained.
It also reviews achievements made from activating financial policy tools to encourage an increase in the rates of cash transfers in hard currency by Egyptian expatriates, to support achieving the goals of the sustainable development in Egypt.
The session reviews the most prominent efforts of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones in developing and diversifying the current investment fields, overcoming obstacles, and promoting good investment opportunities to ensure the effective participation of Egyptian expatriates in investing in Egypt.
A presentation will be held on the establishment of the joint stock company for the investments of Egyptian expatriates in response to their demands in the previous 2022 edition of the conference.
The second session, which addresses politics and education, discusses the importance of the participation of Egyptian expatriates in national dialogue.
This dialogue is a great national opportunity to exchange points of view on important issues amongst groups of people at home and abroad, to work on addressing the challenges they face and review the foreign policy objectives of the Egyptian government and the role of Egyptian expatriates to achieve these objectives.
The session also reviews what has been achieved in education for the children of Egyptian expatriates including the launch of e-platforms in coordination with the Ministry of Education for expatriate children in the stages of primary, preparatory and secondary education.
The session also discusses obstacles that have been overcome in order to integrate children returning from areas of armed conflict into Egyptian universities as well as the opportunities provided to the children of Egypt abroad to study in Egyptian private universities and other universities.
According to the Minister of Immigration, the third session targets the social and service axis, discussing ways to coordinate with the Ministry of Social Solidarity regarding the establishment of the Egyptian Expatriates Fund, striving to achieve solidarity among Egyptian expatriates.
The fund also aims to provide health and social insurance services, as well as to coordinate the transfer of deceased expatriates in cases of emergency and medical evacuation in critical cases.
