Egypt ranks 116th out of 140 in Global Competitiveness Report

Egypt has improved its ranking from last year’s 119th place to 116th place, out of 140 countries worldwide in the Global Competitiveness Report this year.
 
The report, which is issued by the World Economic Forum, ranked Egypt 94th on the overall infrastructure index, compared to 125th last year. The country also ranked 110th in road construction, 70th in railways, 55th in seaports, 53rd in air transport, 101st in electricity supply, 69th in mobile phone subscriptions and 97th in land lines.
 
Government institutions ranked 87th and private institutions ranked 100th.
 
The report relies on 12 key factors that measure the performance of institutions, infrastructure, the economic climate, innovation, business development, the market size, health, education and higher education, training, the labor market, the capital market and modern technology.
 
Each sector was graded on a number system where 1 indicated the best performance and 7, the worst.
