Egypt receives 1.6 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine Wednesday

Egypt on Wednesday received 1.6 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine through Cairo Airport, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar announced.

Abdel Ghaffar told Youm7 that a new service is being made available for coronavirus vaccinations, as those wishing to be vaccinated can choose the location of the vaccine according to their desire.

He pointed out that the website shows all the data related to the waiting time and the date of obtaining it.

“The mobile vaccination centers are registering citizens and giving them the vaccine quickly,” he said.

Abdel Ghaffar assured that currently there are no waiting lists to obtain the vaccine, meaning that those who are currently registering are sent messages quickly without waiting, adding: “There is a great abundance of vaccinations, and we have more than 1,000 centers nationwide.”

According to Abdel Ghaffar, more than half a million citizens have been vaccinated with third booster dose so far.

Egypt is currently witnessing a relative decrease in coronavirus infections, he said, but it is difficult to determine the end of the peak of the fourth wave and it is too early to talk about a fifth wave of coronavirus.
