Egypt receives 347,460 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine on Thursday

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced that Egypt received 347,460 doses of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine on Thursday morning at Cairo International Airport, through the COVAX in cooperation with GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance.

Abdel Ghaffar confirmed that these shipments will be subject to analysis in the laboratories of the Egyptian Drug Authority before distributing it to vaccination centers nationwide.

He pointed out that the AstraZeneca vaccine has approval for emergency use from the World Health Organization and the Egyptian Drug Authority, which is two doses separated by two doses. 28 days.

Egypt was able in a short time to provide all coronavirus vaccines, including Sinovac, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Sputnik, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Moderna, as part of the state’s plan to diversify and expand the provision of coronavirus vaccines.

The Ministry of Health and Population called on citizens to register on the ministry’s website https://egcovac.mohp.gov.eg/#/registration to receive the vaccine, stressing that the state spares no effort in providing vaccines to citizens for free, through permanent cooperation with international organizations and bodies.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population by the end of November announced that it has received 3.89 million doses of coronavirus vaccine produced by the Pfizer company at the Cairo International Airport.

An official report from the Health Ministry stated on Wednesday that Egypt has so far received 119.3 million doses of various coronavirus vaccines.

According to Abdel Ghaffar, the total of those who received the first dose of the vaccine reached 34,606,074, while the total of those who received the second dose amounted to 21,056.550.

The total consumed doses that have been used in vaccination so far reached 55.7 million, he said, adding that there are about 64,335,246 doses available.
