Egypt receives 4 million doses of coronavirus vaccines from UK

Egypt received four million doses of coronavirus vaccines at Cairo International Airport donated from the UK through the COVAX, British ambassador to Egypt Gareth Bayley said.

“4m vaccine doses arriving at Cairo International Airport last night – donated by the UK through COVAX. One of the UK’s largest bilateral vaccine donations across the globe. We’re not safe until we’re all safe,” Bayley wrote on his Twitter page.

Last week, Bayley toured the New Administrative Capital, and said at the time: “I was delighted to visit the New Administrative Capital for the first time yesterday. As we begin 2022 with a commitment to deepen the green partnership between Egypt and the UK, ahead of COP27 in November.

It was fantastic to see how plans are being implemented for a fully smart city with green and sustainable transport and renewable energy at its core. It was especially encouraging to see the electric monorail, supported with UKEF investment, with UK-built carriages providing clean, green transport for millions of Egyptians.”
