Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met on Sunday with representatives of Nissan Motor Egypt, a car manufacturing company, to support the expansion of local manufacturing.
The company plans to invest about US$55.9 million until 2026 in various activities to enhance its presence as a leader in the Egyptian market, and it also approved the Minister of Industry’s proposal to establish a technical school affiliated with it.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel al-Wazir and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan al-Khatib.
Madbouly welcomed the company’s representatives and praised the remarkable development and advanced technologies witnessed by the company’s factory in Egypt.
The Prime Minister called for further expansion in the automotive industry in Egypt, in light of the formation of the Supreme Council for Automotive Industry, and the incentives that have been approved.
Kamel al-Wazir stressed the state’s interest in localizing the industry, adding that he visits factories periodically according to a well-thought-out program to work on overcoming obstacles and promote work in various industrial sectors.
The government’s goal is to expand in various industries, he said, and provide raw materials and production input to manufacturers of Egyptian products.
The Managing Director of Nissan Egypt, Mohamed Abdel-Samad, revealed that the company plans to strengthen its presence as a leader in the Egyptian market.
He explained that the parent company, Nissan, agreed to study the minister’s proposal to establish a technical school affiliated with it in Egypt, and approval was given to begin studying the project with the relevant authorities.
