Egypt sets new record in exports for engineering goods

The Egyptian Engineering Export Council has announced a significant 27.3 percent increase in the sector’s exports from January to August, reaching a historic high of $3.494 billion.

The council’s monthly report indicated that engineering exports in August saw a 12.1 percent  increase compared to the same month in 2023, reaching $443.6 million this August, up from $395.8 million in August 2023.

The Engineering Export Council highlighted several sectors that experienced growth in exports during the first eight months of 2024, including:

  • Transportation: 118.1 percent  growth
  • Cables: 33.1 percent growth
  • Automotive components: 26 percent  growth
  • Electrical and electronic industries: 9.1 percent  growth
  • Home appliances: 7.9 percent  growth
  • Electrical appliances: 6.9 percent  growth

The council also revealed that exports to several countries increased during the same period, including European nations such as the UK, Turkey, France, Germany, Georgia, Italy, Czech Republic, Spain, Ireland, and Slovenia, as well as Asian countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Hong Kong, and Qatar.

Additionally, exports to African countries including Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Angola, and Uganda also saw growth.
