Egypt to take part in Russia’s Intourmarket to attract tourists

Tourism Minister Hesham Zaazou said his ministry and the general authority for tourism promotion will take part in the International Travel Fair (Intourmarket) located in Moscow from 15-18 March. Statistics showed that 2.4 million Russian tourists headed to Egypt in 2013 and spent 23.7 million nights in Egypt, making Russia the top tourist-sending country to Egypt.

The fair, according to Zaazou, will be held for the ninth year in row. It is one of the main tourist fairs in Russia and will be sponsored by the Russian government and the Russia Fedral Agency for Tourism.

"The Egyptian portion of the fair will occupy a 350 meter square hall on the fair grounds," he added. Several Egyptian hotels and companies will take part, and 1,450 companies will participate in the fair representing 148 countries.

More than 350 journalists from prestigious newspapers and news agencies will cover the event. Nasser Hamdy, head of the authority, said participation in such important events will have a great impact on promoting Egypt as a tourist destination and attracting tourists.
