Egypt to aid Lebanon’s reconstruction, paving way for Egyptian companies to participate

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that Egypt is eager to support Lebanon in its efforts to rebuild villages damaged by recent Israeli attacks on its southern region.

Speaking at his weekly press conference on Wednesday, Madbouly explained that during his first visit to Cairo, the Lebanese Prime Minister presented the World Bank’s estimates of Lebanon’s losses, which amount to approximately $13 billion.

He noted that his country needs this funding to reconstruct the devastated areas.

Madbouly confirmed that Lebanon is looking forward to the participation of Egyptian companies in the reconstruction efforts once the situation stabilizes.

He assured that Egypt will always stand by the Lebanese people during this delicate phase.

The Prime Minister added that it was agreed to hold the Joint Higher Committee meeting between Egypt and Lebanon in Cairo, in either the last week of October or early November at the latest.

He noted that this step will be important for strengthening cooperation between the two countries, especially since the committee last convened in 2019, before Lebanon faced its recent political and economic crises.
