In celebration of International Museum Day on May 18, all Egyptian museums nationwide that are affiliated with the Supreme Council of Antiquities will open their doors for free on that day to their Egyptian visitors.
Visitors to these museums can participate in free guided tours to learn about each museum and their unique archaeological collections.
International Museum Day is an international celebration organized by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) since 1977.
It aims to celebrate the the aspirations and creative efforts of museums and educate the the global public about their various activities by launching events and seminars that highlight the role museums play in society.
Every year, ICOM chooses a theme to celebrate International Museum Day, with this year’s theme being “Museums for Education and Research,” emphasizing the vital role of cultural institutions in providing a comprehensive educational experience.
