Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli formed a committee comprised of representatives from the Ministries of Military Production, Local Development, Trade and Industry, the Public Business Sector, Transport, Electricity, Petroleum, Higher Education, Interior, and Tourism, the Arab Organization for Industrialization and the Federation of Industries in order to negotiate and study the offers of international companies working in the field of manufacturing electric cars and buses.
Nader Saad, the official spokesman for the Cabinet, said that this comes in light of the increasing demand by electric car and bus manufacturers to explore investment opportunities available in Egypt.
Medbouli met on Wednesday with the Ministers of Military Production, Local Development, Trade and Industry, the Public Business Sector, and Transport and the President of the Arab Organization for Industrialization to follow up the government’s strategy to enhance the electric cars and buses industry in Egypt, minding the economic return that results from the use of electricity rather than conventional fuel as well as the environmental return on reducing carbon emissions released by the use of gasoline and diesel.
Medbouli said that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi instructed enhancing this industry in Egypt as it is the future of the world’s automobile industry. Therefore, the government seeks cooperation with international companies working in the field.
