Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that Egypt will halt power cuts nationwide starting Sunday until the end of the summer season.
Madbouly made the announcement during a press conference on Wednesday, following a Cabinet meeting.
“We are importing large quantities of fuel shipments to implement the plan to stop the power cuts,” Madbouly said.
The Egyptian government has been implementing power cuts in recent months to conserve electricity during the peak summer demand period.
However, the cuts have been unpopular with the public, who have complained of the disruption to their daily lives.
