
The Egyptian government has approved the issuance of non-circulating commemorative coins to mark the forthcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
These gold and silver coins will be issued in several denominations: one pound, five pounds, ten pounds, twenty-five pounds, fifty pounds, and one hundred pounds, in anticipation of the official opening ceremony scheduled for November 1st.
The three-day global event will be attended by numerous heads of state, ambassadors, and high-profile international and public figures.
The GEM will officially begin receiving the general public on Tuesday, November 4, following the conclusion of the formal opening activities, which will be restricted to invited high-level guests.
