The Egyptian government has established a standardized administrative fee of $15—or its equivalent in foreign currencies—for entry visas, transit visas, and select consular services provided by Egyptian diplomatic missions abroad, effective January 1, 2027.
Issued under Prime Minister Decree No. 2553 of 2026 and published in the Official Gazette on Sunday, August 30, the measure unifies consular service fees globally while repealing all conflicting provisions.
Under the new regulatory framework, the $15 administrative surcharge will be levied on top of base visa charges. Consequently, the final cost for travelers will vary depending on the specific visa category and its associated baseline fee. The move follows an earlier adjustment in March 2026, which raised the visa-on-arrival fee for foreign tourists from $25 to $30.
Egypt will continue operating its digital entry infrastructure, issuing electronic visas equipped with a quick response (QR) code for automated border verification. Currently, citizens from 118 nations qualify for visas on arrival as part of broader national initiatives designed to boost international tourism and streamline arrivals.
Officials framed the standardized fee structure as a key step toward simplifying consular procedures across all Egyptian missions overseas prior to the 2027 implementation date.
