Egypt, Ukraine discuss Palestine-Israel ceasefire

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Sunday received a phone call from the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Koliba, which saw Shoukry inform his Ukrainian counterpart of the intensive Egyptian efforts made to reach a ceasefire between Israeli and Palestinian forces.

Shoukry emphasized the importance of relaunching the negotiations process at the earliest opportunity, which requires intensifying international efforts and warned that clashes could arise again otherwise.

An Egyptian security delegation returned to the Gaza Strip to complete the truce consultations that were concluded under the auspices of Cairo. The delegation arrived at the Gaza Strip through the “Beit Hanoun-Erez” crossing in the northern Gaza Strip, to meet with officials of the Palestinian factions.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday received the Egyptian security delegation at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.

They discussed developments related to the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem and the West Bank, reconstruction in Gaza and issues related to arranging Palestinian internal affairs.
