The Egyptian Environment Ministry has warned elderly citizens and those with chest and respiratory diseases to avoid open-air activities during Sunday and Monday due to increased winds blowing up dust and sand.
The Environment Ministry said in a statement that the warning comes based on reports issued by the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, as well as reports issued by the early warning system of Environment Ministry.
Winds will be active in the northern parts of the country until northern Upper Egypt, it added, with potential storms in open areas.
The Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad said that her ministry is following up on air quality indicators through the continuous monitoring system of the Environment Ministry deployed across the country.
Fouad added that the Central Operations Room receives around the clock any complaints from citizens related to any source of air pollution, through the complaints hotline 19808 or by communicating via WhatsApp on the number 01222693333.
