Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Badr Abdel Aaty welcomed the new Palestinian government that was sworn in before President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday.
“Egypt has always supported President Mahmoud Abbas and called for the implementation of the Cairo Agreement of 2011,” he said.
Abdel Aaty said the new national consensus government supports Palestinian unity and the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, primarily the right to self-determination and establishing an independent and sovereign state on the borders of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
