Egypt’s pavilion was awarded the “distinguished participation award” at the 25th edition of the OTDYKH Leisure, the largest tourism fair in Russia, held at Moscow from September 10 to 13.
The award was received by Mohamed Abdel Ghany, representative of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority at the exhibition.
About 870 exhibitors from 50 countries around the world participated in the exhibition, where nearly 17,000 visitors attended the event.
The Egyptian pavilion was equipped with modern technology, including screens that displayed promotional materials for Egypt’s tourism cities such as Marsa Alam, Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Siwa, Luxor, and Aswan.
Interactive screens featuring images and information on these tourist destinations were provided in Russian, alongside 3D eyeglasses for virtual reality screens displaying locations such as the Red Sea, the pyramids, Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada.
A billboard promoting the Grand Egyptian Museum 2020 was placed in front of the Egyptian pavilion. Visitors flocked in large numbers to the pavilion, enjoying the interactive activities and harp music provided.
During the exhibition, a number of professional meetings were held between the Egyptian officials and representatives of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), during which they talked about increasing tourist flow coming to Egypt from other markets, in addition to stressing Egypt’s readiness to return charter flights from Russia.
Several meetings were held with Russian tour operators, where their future vision and plans to promote Egyptian destinations were discussed after the return of charter flights between the two countries.
A number of media meetings were held with representatives of professional and tourism newspapers, such as Tourprom and Profi Travel.
The meetings also referred to newly developed areas for tourism purposes such as the North Coast and the new Alamein City.
