EgyptAir pilots, flight attendants stage sit-in

Some 500 flight attendants and 150 pilots from national carrier EgyptAir staged a sit-in at their syndicate headquarters to demand salary increases and increased bonuses.

They complain that a salary increase scheme was proposed more than 14 years ago but that authorities have since ignored it, claiming that subsequent increases have been sufficient.

Protesters say they only want to be treated on par with their colleagues at other airlines, some of which do not generate profits but nevertheless pay higher salaries than those paid by EgyptAir.

According to an EgyptAir source, the sit-in is not expected to affect flight schedules.
