The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday announced the recovery of several Egyptian artifacts from Ireland, following the successful visit of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to the Irish capital, Dublin, on December 11.
This step serves as a culmination of Egypt’s efforts over a year and a half to recover the artifacts, including an Egyptian mummy, a number of pottery vessels, and others from the University of Cork in Ireland, which showed great cooperation in facilitating the procedures for returning the artifacts.
The final details of the agreement were completed on the sidelines of President Sisi’s visit to Dublin.
Egypt expressed its deepest gratitude towards the Irish side for this important step in strengthening the growing cultural and scientific relations between the two countries.
These recovered pieces represent an important era of ancient Egyptian history and are a part of the Egyptian cultural heritage that is of interest to all people – with the relics scheduled to be displayed in Egyptian museums.
