The Egyptian Interior Ministry has released a statement categorically denying allegations circulating on social media platforms and propagated by media affiliated with the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group regarding the unlawful arrest of YouTuber Ahmed AbouZaid to prevent him from participating in an online content creator competition.
A security source stated that the claims are completely false. The source clarified that the individual in question was actually arrested on December 30th for illegal foreign exchange trading outside of official banking channels.
More than 163,000 US dollars and a mobile phone containing evidence of his illegal activities were seized during the arrest.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the individual, and the public prosecution has referred the case to the economic court. The ministry is also taking legal action against those who spread these false claims.
