Egyptian exports to the UAE exceeded US$1.1 billion in 2021, minister

The Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevin Gamea, said on Monday, that the rates of Egyptian exports to the UAE markets during 2021 amounted to about US$ 1.196 billion.

The most prominent export items include building materials, engineering and electronics goods, food industries, agricultural crops, medical industries, ready-made garments, and furniture.

Gamea’s statements came as she received the UAE Ambassador in Cairo, Maryam Khalifa al-Kaabi, where the meeting discussed ways to develop commercial, industrial and investment cooperation relations between the two countries.

The minister said that the meeting stressed the importance of unifying joint efforts between the two countries to provide the needs of the Egyptian and Emirati markets in light of the current regional and global challenges.

She pointed to the importance of translating the distinguished relations between the two countries’ governments into concrete commercial and investment cooperation projects that are in the interest of the Egyptian and Emirati economies alike.

Gamea said that enhancing the rates of trade exchange between the two countries to reflect the great potentials enjoyed by the two brotherly economies, by providing more commercial facilitations to Egyptian and Emirati exporters.

The minister also believes in strengthening cooperation between the two countries in terms of expanding and diversifying supply chains and overcoming the challenges of logistical transport at the present time.

The distinguished investment opportunities for the Emirati business community to invest in the Egyptian market, especially in the fields of spinning, weaving, leather, furniture, and handicrafts.

For her part, Kaabi pointed to her country’s keenness to develop joint economic relations for the benefit of the economy and peoples of the two countries.

She praised the unique Egyptian participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, with a distinguished pavilion that has been the focus of the world’s attention since the start of the Expo activities until now.
