Tunisian authorities arrested 15 Egyptian fishermen over the weekend on charges of illegally fishing in Tunisian territorial waters.
According to Ahmed Nassar, head of Egypt's Fishermen Support Association, the fishermen set sail for Malta on 31 July to go on a fishing trip.
“Then they called us to say they had been arrested off the coast of Tunisia,” Nassar said.
Families of the fishermen have been informed of the incident and are currently awaiting more news.
