The Egyptian Football Association issued an official statement on Friday regarding fraud that occurred during a friendly match between the Kuwaiti Kazma SC and Egypt’s Telephonat Beni Suef SC – one which never actually took place.
“The Egyptian Football Association clarifies that despite the lack of prior coordination between the Kuwaiti side and EFA, the association will coordinate and cooperate with the Kuwaiti Football Association to uncover all circumstances related to this issue and take legal measures regarding it,” it said.
It added that: “The EFA calls on all foreign federations and clubs to coordinate in advance with the Egyptian Football Association when holding any training camps or friendly matches inside Egypt in order to provide all aspects of support.”
“It will not be allowed to hold any friendly matches for all foreign teams without obtaining prior permission from the Egyptian Football Association.”
The Kuwaiti Kazma was reportedly involved in fraud during the training camp that the team was conducting in Alexandria, in preparation for the start of the new season.
This began when the Kazma Club announced, through its official account on X (formerly Twitter) that it had reportedly defeated Egypt’s Telephonat Beni Suef team, with seven goals to one, in a friendly match held in Alexandria on July 18.
However the Telephonat Beni Suef Club stated through its official account on Facebook that it did not participate in the match nor even began any preparatory training.
The Egyptian club pointed out that the Kazma Club was subjected to fraud by one of the players’ agents, who impersonated Telephonat Beni Suef.
The Egyptian club assured that it will take legal measures as soon as possible.
