The British royal family has truly captivated the world. From the strength of Queen Elizabeth to the decency of Princes William and Harry, they always give the common people something to talk about.
The royal family was the biggest news of the year in 2011 when the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, married Kate Middleton, a commoner who became the duchess of Cambridge in what was deemed as a fairytale love story come true.
Once again the British royals have made headlines worldwide this year, following a high profile marriage between Prince Harry the Duke of Sussex and “Suits” star Meghan Markle.
The story topped even William and Kate’s, as Harry broke much more royal protocols to marry Markle. Prior to the marriage, Markle was an actress, a job deemed unfit for a royal. Even bigger is the fact that Markle is the first royal who is not completely Caucasian, in addition to being a divorcee.
The second royal wedding thus proved to be an even bigger fairytale, captivating hearts all over. One of these was an Egyptian pharmacy student, Noha Tarek, who was so grasped by the royals that she decided to send a congratulatory letter to the newlyweds, mailed to Prince Harry’s residence, which she found via the internet.
In her letter, she expressed her happiness with their marriage, wishing the newlyweds a prosperous life and inviting them to visit Egypt sometime.
As Tarek had previously sent letters with no response, she didn’t think much of this one, that is until she unexpectedly received a thank you response on July 12. The letter arrived to Noha’s residence in Cairo, and had the royal seal on it, and included a photo of the royal couple
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their wedding, and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did,” read the reply, which Tarek posted on Facebook.
“It was really thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes.”
Tarek posted the letter on her personal Facebook account, writing, “I never thought I would get a reply. The royals are my biggest source of escapism and happiness, and my forever love. This is one of the best days of my life.”
Meghan and Harry were married in May St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom on May 19. Their relationship was formally acknowledged in 2016 via a statement released from the royal family’s communications secretary.
A year later, the wedding was announced to take place during the 2018 spring. The queen gave the marriage her approval.
