Egyptian movies too commercial: Marrakech Film Festival

TV anchorwoman Engy Ali has said that she is upset Egypt is not being represented at the Marrakech Film Festival (December 4 -12), adding that she was told by the management of the festival that Egyptian producers do not present films that are commensurate with international festivals and that they refuse to add subtitles or provide dubbing for their films.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Gamal Eddin, Egypt's ambassador to Morocco, said there were some issues that prevented the nominated films from being dubbed in time for the festival.

Ali also said that the Egyptian Nile Cinema channel did not allow her to interview as many of the participants as in previous years, adding that tightened security measures have also hindered her job.

Nevertheless, she succeeded in interviewing Francis Ford Coppola, the head of the jury selection committee.
