A Facebook video clip showing a carriage driver in Luxor brutally beating a horse went viral across Egyptian social media, inciting outrage and demands for justice.
The Egyptian Interior Ministry announced, in a statement on its Facebook page that the circumstances of the video circulating on Facebook have come to light.
It said: “After examining the video, police identified and arrested the perpetrator of the incident, who is a carriage driver residing in the Luxor city.”
The ministry added, “After confronting him, he confessed to committing the incident, and legal measures were taken.”
