The draw for the Egyptian Premier League competition for the next 2023/2024 season was held on Monday evening, set for September 18 and ending on July 30, 2024, with the participation of 18 clubs.
Al-Ahly Sporting Club, the defending champion, will meet al-Masry in the first round, while Zamalek will play with Pyramids.
The other matches will be between the Arab Contractors and Baladiyat al-Mahalla, Talaea al-Geish and the National Bank of Egypt, the Interior Ministry and Enppi, Pharco and Future, Al-Ittihad Alexandria and Ceramica Cleopatra, Zed and al-Ismaily, Smouha and al-Gouna.
The draw resulted in Ahly meeting its rival Zamalek in the tenth round of the first leg of the competition.
Following the draw, the President of the Professional Clubs Association Ahmed Diab said, “Broadcast contracts have been signed for the 18 clubs, the highest in the history of the league, and the form of broadcast will be different and better than before.”
“We asked to increase the spectators to half the capacity of the stadiums where the matches are held, during the first round, and we asked for the full capacity in the second round, but so far it is 5,000 for each team.”
He continued, “In terms of the best, we have the 13th league in the world.”
