A Beni Suef resident was shot dead by police in Saudi Arabia on Monday.
The family of the victim, Mohamed Ramadan Abdel Hafez, said he was shot in the course of an ID check. He was then transferred to a hospital, where he passed away.
Fifteen Egyptians protested in front of the hospital, clashing with security guards there when they were banned from entering, the family said.
The victim's uncle, Mahmoud Abdel Hafez, said his nephew's friends called him from Saudi Arabia to inform him that Abdel Hafez was in the intensive care unit and that they were not allowed to visit him before he passed away.
