The Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport and the Egyptian Aviation Ministry signed a memorandum of understanding on increasing the number of flights between the two countries.
According to the Russian newspaper, TOURDOM.RU, the two ministries agreed in particular on the possibility of operating 14 weekly flights between Moscow and Cairo/ Alexandria, on board Air Arabia.
The MoU stipulates that it is possible to schedule flights up to 25 flights from Moscow, to the Egyptian resorts of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.
Also in the list of routes are seven flights per week from Saint Petersburg to Cairo/ Alexandria, and 14 flights to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada.
The MoU applies to Russian carriers, according to the air traffic parity between both countries.
Russian Airline Aeroflot had earlier asked for permission from the Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport to make flights to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh from the Perm city.
Under this agreement, airlines will begin to expand transportation to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada from Russian cities.
