On Tuesday Deputy Education Minister Mohamed Omar announced during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly that the Education Ministry will give 50,000 tablets to students and teachers by October.

Madbouly met with the Communications Minister Amr Talaat and two deputies for the education minister to follow up with progress on plans to provide high-speed internet access to secondary schools, as part of on-going government efforts to further develop the education system.

The communications minister presented the latest steps taken by his ministry and announced that 92 percent of the project has been completed.

A fiber optic network has been connected to 2,180 schools of the total target of 2,382 schools, Talaat explained, adding that the network is scheduled to be connected to the rest of the schools by early October.

The meeting also discussed developing infrastructure for the education development strategy, a project seeking to establish an information network for all secondary schools affiliated with the Education Ministry.
