Egyptian short film ‘Dawn Every Day’ participates in London Festival

The London International Film Festival, affiliated with the British Film Institute, has chosen the Egyptian short film “Dawn Every Day (Fajr Kol Youm)” to join the festival from October 9-20, after its participation in six festivals around the world.

The film is scheduled to be screened on October 18, in the “Wondering, Wandering” short films section.

 

Dawn Every Day’s story and cast

Inspired by real events, the film is set in the 1950s when Nabil, eight years old, collides with new social standards that he cannot understand the impact of on his close friend, and it is written and directed by Amir Youssef.

The film stars child actors Cleopatra and Selim Mostafa, in addition to Marwa al-Sawy and Shaza Moharam.

The crew includes director of photography Evan Weidenkeller, set designer Asem Ali, costume designer Nashwa Matouq, sound engineer Moataz al-Qamari, color corrector Logan Haelen, music composer Salem Khattar, and assistant producer Habeba Khedr.

Amir Youssef is an Egyptian film director living in San Francisco, interested in Egyptian culture and researching social issues such as alienation and identity.
