Egypt was the sole country in the survey, compiled by German data company Statista, outside of Europe and North America.

Finns ranked first in the survey at 25 percent, as one in four Finns booked a cruise in the past twelve months.

While cruises were less popular among residents of Sweden and Norway, where 15 percent and 11 percent of respondents said they had booked a cruise, respectively.

This type of vacation did not receive much interest from the countries surveyed in southern Europe, such as Italy, at six percent, France, at five percent, and Spain, at four percent.

The coronavirus pandemic reduced the global numbers of ocean cruise passengers from 29.7 million in 2019 to 4.8 million in 2021.
