The Prices of cigarette products for the Global and Eastern Tobacco companies increased, following the provisions of the Value Added Tax Law and its amendments, and the Comprehensive Health Insurance System Law #2 of 2018.
The new list of cigarette prices came into effect on Sunday, as follows:
- Cleopatra Box 10: LE 24.5
- Cleopatra King Size: LE 34.5
- Cleopatra Soft Queen: LE 34.5
- Boston/Belmont: LE 34.5
- Cleopatra Box (white – colors): LE 34.5
- Cleopatra Super: LE 34.5
- Mondial (red-blue-silver): LE 34.5
- Mondial Switch (menthol-blueberry): LE 34.5
- Cleopatra Black: LE 34.5
- Matossian Super: LE34.5
- Viceroy/Pall Mall: LE 55
Amendments to the Value Added Tax Law
The House of Representatives approved amendments to the value-added tax law on cigarettes and tobacco last October, allowing the price brackets of cigarettes to be amended by 12 percent annually, for a period of five years, so that companies can move cigarette prices without a request from Parliament to adjust prices.
The Finance Ministry agreed to increase the maximum tax brackets for cigarettes to the maximum annual increase of 12 percent, in accordance with the provisions of Value Added Tax Law #177 of 2013.
