In a statement to the Middle East News Agency, he said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah to communicate with the authorities in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to ascertain the circumstances of this matter.
He added: “The matter is being followed up with the Saudi authorities.”
Meanwhile, the Saudi Public Security Forces announced that the Special Forces for Hajj and Umrah Security have commenced the apprehension of the individual who violated instructions and the completion of legal procedures against him.
Social media users circulated a video clip showing a police officer forcefully grabbing a woman’s hand to make her stand up and leave her spot inside the Grand Mosque, before the video transitioned to another scene showing the officer pushing an Umrah pilgrim who objected to his attitude, amid a verbal altercation between the two parties that drew varied reactions online.
